JOE Camilleri and the Black Sorrows
will be performing a live concert in
Sanctuary Golf Resort’s beautiful
Marquee on September 17. Tickets
are $45 presale or $50 at the door (if
still available). Doors open at 7:15pm
for an 8:30pm start. Call 08 9725 2777.
Two days later, on Sept 19th, the final
Holden Scramble will roll into town.
The Holden Scramble is very strong
in the area — with Bunbury Holden
sponsoring many events. This is the
last chance for many of you diehard
tragics to make the regional final, so
don’t miss this one!
Sanctuary Golf’s Rob Miguel has
told us that the pin placements will be
set up in such a way that you’ll need
some extremely accurate and well-thought-out approaches in order to
make birdies. Bring your A-game!

SECRET Harbour Golf Links welcomed
Australia’s best longball hitters to WA at
the recent RE/MAX World Longdrive
Championship Australia — and those
who came to watch were in for a treat!
While the “Stars” of the show
included some of the biggest names in
Australian longball, a “Special Guest
Star” role featured the grand opening of
Secret Harbour’s brand-new $3 million
dollar clubhouse.
With the first-ever prize pool for
a RWLCA event – not to mention
double-points on offer — there were
plenty of new faces in the competition.
The locals were out in force to
support the WA debut event, and with
the largest amateur division yet, it was
not until the tail end of the day that a
winner emerged. Paul Mews set the
bar high for all of the competitors with
a massive 304.5m bomb. Bart Staines
recorded a 285.4m drive of his own,
while Luke Page wasn’t far behind with
a measurement of 276.1m.
The Open Division also saw one of
its largest fields yet. Everyone’s eyes
were on Order of Merit leader Stephen
Kennedy as well as newcomer Daniel
Lee — who is one of the youngest Open
competitors, and certainly one to watch
in the future. Local Iain Dick was also
in fine form — with his cheer squad in
tow — finishing in the top 6.
The Super Senior division saw a one-on-one battle between tour regular
Big hitters with their Big Dogs at Secret Harbour’s longdrive event
Brian Reichel and newcomer John
Collins. Brian took the win with a
fantastic measurement of 299.7m (a
2010 Super Senior Record).
The battle between Mark Sanford
and Simon Abbott has travelled right
around Australia but it wasn’t until
the final ball that a winner could be
crowned. This time it was the Big Man
Mark Sanford with a measurement of
309.0m. Simon qualified 1st for the
finals with a measurement of 310.8m,
but just could not find what was needed
to beat Mark’s consistency throughout
the day.
THE Links Kennedy Bay are
currently offering a limited number

Memberships. Foundation members

fee ever.

including a $260 bar levy and $60
ins/affiliation fees. Full seniors
( 60+)/5-day/5-day seniors and
